Better Stack is an incident stack: uptime, on-call, status pages, and logs. UPKira is uptime monitoring with confirmation, alerts, and a status page, at a published price from $0 to $30 a month.
How big is the product?
Better Stack covers on-call scheduling in depth, phone escalations, and a logging product. UPKira has on-call windows by email, up to three escalation steps, and Slack, Discord, Teams, Telegram, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, and signed webhooks. It does not store your application logs.
How is an outage decided?
UPKira opens an incident only after a confirming check. A slow response can be degraded, and it opens an incident only when you turn that option on. Better Stack's incident screen is broader; UPKira keeps one open incident per monitor and lets you acknowledge it from the app, the API, or a Telegram button.
What is missing on purpose?
UPKira does not run checks from a fleet of regions, does not attach a TLS certificate to a custom status hostname, and does not send SMS to status-page subscribers. Those need infrastructure or a provider this deploy does not include. If you need them, Better Stack is the closer fit.
Questions people ask first
Can I drive UPKira from code?
Paid plans have a bearer-token API and an OpenAPI document at /api/v1/openapi.json. A Terraform provider is not in this repository.
Do status pages update on their own?
Yes, for the monitors you attach. A public incident note and a public postmortem are shown when you mark them public. Subscribers are emailed for down, recovery, and a public update.
